VMware ESXi optimized storage controller for iNODE VM
Last Updated 4 years ago
Emulated storage controllers have very poor I/O performance.
iNODE-1.9.2 supports the paravirtual storage controller which provides a remarkably higher I/O performance. Follow the steps below to change the storage controller from emulated to paravirtual.
Make sure the VM is not running and right-click to open it's settings.
Set the Guest Operating System to version Other 2.6.x / 3.x.x Linux (64-bit)
Change the SCSI Controller Type from whatever it is to VMware Paravirtual
Press OK, boot iNODE-1.9.2 installation media and choose operation Repair iNODE
Select the storage device
Proceed to operation by selecting YES
At the end of the operation the storage driver should be set to vmw_pvscsi
Abort setup, detach the installation media from the VM and boot it again
You can confirm that iNODE is running on the paravirtual controller by accessing the administrative interface to locate the PCI Devices table in Monitoring :: System :: System Status.
There you should see the PVSCSI SCSI Controller.
